"Just four quarters each and the family can enter a world of dinosaurs, dogs, farm critters, thrilling carnival rides and food you won’t find any place else, including deep-fried frog legs, ginormous turkey legs, cheesecake on a stick and the newest creation – the deep-fried zucchini weenie. Besides the $1 admission from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., all 22-ounce soft drinks are just $1 at all food and beverage stands from 1 to 4 p.m.; carnival rides, games and select food items are just $1 from 4 to 7 p.m."
The fair takes place in Pomona, about an hour's drive south of L.A.



Pick Your Own Tomatoes 2009 at Underwood Family Farms

One piece of advice...GET THERE EARLY!  It gets hot in Moorpark!
"Pick Your Own Roma Tomatoes is scheduled to take place over Labor Day Weekend 2009 (Saturday, September 5 & Sunday, September 6 only) at our Moorpark location. The price is $.20/pound. Hours are from 6:00am to 12:00pm. We ask that you bring containers of equal size that will not hold over 50 lbs, to make it easier for weighing. If they are all the same, we only have to weigh one of two. If they are dissimilar, we'll have to weigh each one. If you are interested in already picked tomatoes, the price is $.40/pound and must be ordered 1-day in advance and pre-paid. For more information, please call (805) 529-3690."

Live animals, story times, songs and art experiences are just some of the fun activities we have planned for you. Critter Clubs are for 3-5 year olds and a participating adult.  Critter Clubs are FREE with paid Museum admission. Events are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  No reservations required, but tickets are very limited, so arrive early! Check in at the Dueling Dinos in the Museum's Grand Foyer.

Hurray!  We are so excited that LACMA will reopen this amazing hand's on art experience for kids in the "real" museum.  The education department indicated that the first projects would be based on art in the Korean Gallery that will be reopening next door.  Stay tuned for more news...

Colors to "Dye" For, at the L.A. Aroboretum

"Plant dyes have been used since 3,000 B.C.E., and ancient writings describe over 1,000 sources of natural dyes. Although today most dyes are created artificially, making natural plant dyes can be as simple as gathering plants from your own garden. Join us as we gather plants for our own dyes and do a bit of groovy tie-dying! Individuals: Members $5/$6 nonmembers. Family Fee: $15 per family for members; $20 per family for non-members.
