Dear Mommy,

The weather has been cool and calm, but we know what's coming...summer is about to strike!   How about a hike before it does? Last chance for a cool morning hike or late afternoon sunset stroll.  Thanks to the power of Twitter, I discovered two wonderful blogs to visit for inspiration and expert advice

Modern Hiker, by Casey Schreiner, is one of the web''s top hiking blogs.  His thoughtful articles about SoCal trails will make you feel that yes, it really will be possible to walk further than 100 feet with your toddler.  Look for recent posts including "Summer Hiking in L.A." and "Best L.A. Hikes for Beginners"

Nature p.L.A.y. , by Ilana Gustafson Turner, addresses the issue of "Nature Deficit Disorder" in our city kids with links to local organizations and destinations that bring L.A. kids into the "green scene".

Bookmark them under "hiking" and you are ready for next year, too!

Summer Adventure Guide will finally be out today!  It's been a little harder than I expected to find accurate info about this summer's programs.  Like most of us, our city's institutions are struggling with the uncertainty and strain of today's financial atmosphere. We wanted to make sure we had the most accurate information we could find.  I'll also share my personal plan for summer with my almost 5 and almost 3 year old...gulp.

Having fun,
Carrie
Founder...and Mommy!
