April 18-24 Dear Mommy, Spring is a busy season in Los Angeles! There is SO much to do...but I have to be honest. I am still SO behind from our household flu saga at the beginning of April! (Who gets the flu in April!?!?!) I'm relieved to finally get our Green Adventure Guide out, and look for updates and additions over the weekend. Oh, and PLEASE don't stop by the house...I am still picking up stray jelly beans and plastic grass from last weekend. Plastic grass the week before Earth Day...hmmmm. Our next adventure... If you have an animal lover at home, or have been looking for an affordable zoo option, we've got you covered! We've rented out the Moorpark Zoo for the morning of April 25 for our own PRIVATE animal show! We'll have the place to ourselves, before the general public, to enjoy a special presentation by the students of Moorpark College (who care for the zoo's residents). Every show is unique! Then we'll have a special craft project available, and you'll be able to explore the grounds on your own. Feel free to bring a picnic to eat at the zoo or at the park just down the street. We're so proud to be able to offer you another one-of-a-kind experience! To read more details about the Zoo and our adventure, go here: (and yes, Moorpark sounds far, but it's only a half hour drive from the valleys, and approx an hour from the westside!)http://www.mommyadventureclub.com/store/products/24 Our site is growing again! You've probably noticed the looooooong list of categories to the left, but we also wanted to point out (below that) the "Site Seeing" menu! These are sites we love to visit for adventure ideas, parenting advice, and plain old fun! We're also proud to include some businesses who are partnering with us on upcoming adventures. We were featured in a blog post today by Baby Friendly LA...this L.A. super mom writes a mean blog entry and designs elegant necklaces for her Etsy store. I also blame Rosina for getting me addicted to Twitter, where she frequently features advice about "must read" blogs around town. Here's to another sun-shiney weekend that is sure to make the relatives back east insanely jealous! Go Mama Go, Carrie Founder and Mommy Green Adventure Guide We've rounded up a huge collection of kid-friendly Earth Day events, and some suggestions for more earth-friendly fun around town. This Week in L.A Royal Dance Party Saturday, April 18, 1:00-4:00pm If you haven't been...what are you waiting for? Monika, mompreneur & creator of Royal Dance Party, has designed the perfect event for families to enjoy together...it's affordable (you get SO much for the cost!), great for all ages, and something totally unique to L.A. You little princess will thank you... Mary Poppins Event April 18, Storytime 2:00pm, Movie 3:00pm In their usual partnership combining amazing children's literature with classic film, Every Picture Tells a Story and the Aero Theatre will be featuring Mary Poppins this Saturday. This is a great "first" movie for kids, with just enough magic and action to be exciting, but nothing over the top or scary. Start with story time at 2:00pm at Every Picture Tells a Story (and a chance to win tix to the film!), then head across the street for the showing at 3:00pm at the the Aero Theatre. Keep your eyes peeled for the Black Stallion event in May. Musical Circus- "The Adventure is in the Story" Saturday, April 18, 8:30am A musical petting zoo and special performance for children are the highlights of this special program! FREE! "This free program for the youngest members of The Orchestras of Pasadena family begins with a musical “petting zoo” of orchestra instruments at 8:30 am, followed by a performance designed especially for music lovers 10 years of age and younger at 9 am." World City at the Music Center Saturday, April 18, 11:00am This special program features international performers with a special show for kids. Grilled Cheese Invitational Saturday, April 25, 1:00-5:00pm With the motto "Bread, Butter, Cheese, Victory!", you know it's going to be good. |
