Monday's Mompreneur Monika Csikkel, Royal Dance Party Our new weekly feature,
Monday's Mompreneur, highlights moms who own businesses in the greater
Los Angeles area. We hope you'll enjoy their insights and inpirational

This week, we're excited to introduce you to Monika Csikkel, the creator of Royal Dance Party. They are celebrating the first anniversary of the business this Saturday at their monthly family event!
The Royal Story
Monika's oldest daughter had a
simple request: to visit a place where she could "dance like a
princess". Monika looked for a local event or destination,
and while there were plenty of princess parties, brunches with a
princess, and princess playdates, she couldn't find a place that
matched her daughter's dream. She realized that this might be the
business idea she had been looking for.
So, with a preschooler, a toddler, and newborn in tow, she began visiting vendors and potential party sites to create Royal Dance Party. Her vision? To create an event that PARENTS would love as much as their KIDS.
"Looking back now, I don't know
how I did it", Monika told me with a sigh...and a laugh. "My favorite
part of the business is still being at the dance, being able to dance
with the children, and be a princess or queen for a little while."
Royal Dance Party
is designed to appeal to both boys and girls. Kids love the fairy tale
characters, family friendly dance numbers, arts and crafts, face
painting, and play props including crowns, capes, and jewels, and a balloon drop.
Parents love the healthy snacks, outstanding charicature artist,
a dj who spins good music, and the complimentary massages. Guests are charged a flat fee for the event.
"At a lot of destinations, you
pay to go in, and then you pay for this, you pay for that...for a
family of five, it adds up quickly. At Royal Dance Party, your
purchase of the ticket gets you everything."
Monika has plans to expand the business, and is scouting locations on the westside and in the valley.
"The thing I love the most is
watching the families spend time together. Once they are there, they
don't need to worry about anything. For three hours, they can relax
and just enjoy being together."
Royal Dance Party was recently honored as a winner of the Leading Moms in Business Competition,
which recognizes 200 of the nation's top mom owned businesses. Also, a
portion of each event's sales goes to support the children's charity SOS Children's Villages.
Monika's advice to new mompreneurs?
"Go for it! You can make things happen if you believe in yourself and in
your idea. BUT, only start a business if you are truly passionate about
it. It is the passion, the values you hold, that give a company its
strength."
