Escape with a Book
Our collection of the most intriguing Southern California libraries to visit with little ones.
Look for announcements about special library events in our Weekly Newsletter.

Central Library, Children's Department, Downtown

No childhood in Los Angeles is complete without a trip to the downtown Central Library.  Besides the books, you'll love the unique mix of old and new architecture, the reasonably priced café dining, and the easy parking.

Lloyd Taber-Marina Del Rey

Hand's down, the best view from any Library in the city.  Watch the boats sail by in this gorgeous place, perched on the edge of the marina.  Pajama Storytime with a view? Works for me!

Buena Vista Branch Library, Burbank

This fairly new library is fine in and of itself.  But what we love is all the amenities.  A seperate children's restroom and changing room, a beautiful muraled children's section...and a small playground right outside!  Come stay awhile.

Los Feliz Branch Library

A recently remodeled branch and active Children's program in an uber-cool neighborhood; be sure to visit the website for news about the latest special events.

Beverly Hills Library

Are you surprised that you have to sign up ahead of time for the storytime in this posh neighborhood, and that mommies line up hours ahead of time to make sure their little darlings make the grade?  Neither are we...but we love that there are so many families THIS excited about books!

Santa Monica Library, Main branch

This library boasts eco-friendy construction in a soaring, light filled design.  All of the Santa Monica branches have full children's activity calendars.

Glendale Library

We love their unique 'Puppy Tales" storytime.  Call ahead for days and times.

Studio City Branch

Not the biggest, not the fanciest.  But this library has one of the most enthusiastic children's Lirarians in the City.  Miss Barbara is so glad you've come, and we dig that.  Don't miss her music filled storytime, which also helps parents learn the finer points of increasing childhood literacy.  Great children's reading nook.
