Hi, this is Carrie Robertson, the founder of Mommy Adventure Club. Thanks for your interest in becoming a contributor for our site! Our traffic has been growing in leaps and bounds, and we need more and better content. Although the tone of our site is friendly, upbeat, and full of funny mommy angst, we're serious about creating high quality content that moms return to often.
The hiring of contributors is a new turn of events for our site, and we are eager to get started! For this first round of "hiring", we're looking for 4-6 writers who are passionate about sharing their adventures with others.
These assignments would begin in October.
Who are we looking for?
Residents of Los Angeles, Southern California, and beyond who love to explore the city.
Individuals who have worked, are working, or hope to work as professional writers.
Individuals with recent parenting experience in the local parenting community- moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other caregivers welcome to apply!
Individuals who are willing to commit at a minimum to writing for us through the end of 2009, approx 3 articles.
We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, color, sex, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, or disability. It is our intention that all qualified applications be given equal opportunity, that selection decisions are based on job-related factors, and that our company reflects the diversity of our community.
What You'll Do:
Check out the Assignment Listto choose a destination that works for your schedule and location.
Check with our managing editor or founder (that's me) to schedule the adventure and subsequent article post date.
Go on the adventure, ideally with your child(ren). (Yes, you really have to go there!)
Tweet and post pictures 3-5 times while at the destination to "AdventureClubLA".
After the event, write a 500-750 word article.
Get paid at the end of each month.
What You'll Get:
A $40 flat fee per article, paid with a 1099.
Byline credit, permanent recognition as a "Contributor" in the "About Us" page on our site with your photo, and if you like a link to your personal blog, book on Amazon, etc.
Occasionally, reimbursement for exorbitant expenses or those you may not be able to claim on your tax return.
It's not nearly what you deserve! But I hope that this might provide you and your family with some assistance in your "entertainment" budget, and the chance to be a credited writer on a growing site. The type, size, frequency, and scope of the assignments may increase. And don't worry, we're happy to train you on Twitter!
If this sounds like something you might enjoy, please email us a friendly, not too formal letter telling us a little about yourself, your writing experience, and why this crazy, underpaid assignment sounds fun to you. Please include one sample or your writing, whether an article, blog entry, a letter to your Aunt Mildred, or your Twitter feed. Resumes are not required.
Please email us at carrie AT mommyadventureclub DOT com. (mommyadventureclub, all one word)
Please don't hesitate to email us with any questions you might have about the assignments. I'm sure we left out something! We're leaving behind breadcrumbs for other moms to follow...I hope you'll join us!
Want to trade? Do you have a blog or website, and need local writers to provide a parent's perspective on family fun in Los Angeles? Email us at the address above, we would love to partner with you!
