The Possibility of a Perfect Day
Bergmot Station, Santa Monica Museum Of Art, Flap Happy Outlet Store Remember THOSE days? Wake up late...coffee at your local haunt...meet a friend for an outing...a little workout...a little shopping...ok, you get the idea. Now that you're a mommy? Um, not so much. An easy alternative to the coffee, museum, shopping, outdoor cafe combination for moms with baby in tow is Bergamot Station in Santa Monica.  Itinerary: Make the trek to Santa Monica's Michigan boulevard, where all three of our destinations are located. Start with a walk around the Bergamot Station. This former rail yard has been converted to a permanent home for some of the city's best galleries. In the middle, you'll notice a tiny fenced park, about 500 square feet that includes grass, flowers, and a bench. Perfect for a nursing session or snack before you explore. Here's more from their website: Bergamot Station is Southern California's largest art gallery complex and cultural center, located on eight acres in the heart of Santa Monica featuring contemporary art galleries, The Santa Monica Museum of Art, architecture and design firms, a cafe, and a frame shop.  At the west end of the facility is the Santa Monica Museum of Art. This small but mighty art museum hosts a wide variety of exhibits, classes, and events. It's a great place to start, with friendly staff and a manageable size. From here, walk clockwise around the facility and peek in at the various galleries. At the far east end of the facility, you'll find the Bergamot Station cafe. Be sure to leave room for their wonderful homemade soups and baked goods. Shaded outdoor seating is just outside the cafe.  Hopefully, everyone has settled into their stroller, because now it's time to shop! You'll walk out the gate of the station and head west down the block to the Flap Happy Outlet store. In addition to their famous hats with outstanding sun protection, the outlet features beachy playclothes. If you have a toddler on your hands, don't be afraid to peak into the service yard of the Santa Monica trash truck for a glimpse of trash trucks and tractors.
