Family Friendly Events in the Greater Los Angeles Area We hunted, we sifted, we scoured...because we know that the 4th of July can be tricky when they're still little! While we can't guarantee a slam dunk, we hope our thoughtful list helps you find the perfect event for your little clan. Happy Birthday, U.S.A.! Are we lucky or what? Events take place July 4th! Included are some historic destinations including the Printing Museum of Carson and the Reagan Presidential Library. Big!World!Fun! at the Ford Ampitheatre, Hollywood Saturday, July 4th, Activities 9:00am, Performance 10:00am Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company: "Native dances of Mexico reflect the significant role of natural elements in Mexican culture. Grandeza's superb dancers, in beautifully detailed authentic costumes, create a folklorico heat wave." Children FREE (reservations required), Adults $5, Parking $1 Pre-show activity: Craft Project TBD Arrive early for science-based crafts and fun! Kid friendly workshop activities begin at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited. Sierra Madre Parade 10:00am Play tourist in this delightful little town is just a couple freeway exits past Pasadena. Spend the day shopping and exploring Cheer for the fly over by vintage air craft, the Girl Scouts carrying banners, and best of all? The water fight at the end of the parade in Sierra Madre Park! From their site: "You don’t need fireworks to brighten Sierra Madre’s Fourth of July Celebration. On The Fourth, festivities light up the sky with a flyover of vintage planes, parade, bands, games, food, drink and all-around fun as part of the traditional National Holiday in this foothill community." FREE A Family Celebration at the Printing Museum 10:00am-4:00pm "Fun for the whole family! Featuring a new July 4 bannerplaylet written for the occasion by the Museum's own renaissance man, Phil Soinski. Performed in the Museum's Theater twice that day, at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The play is recommended for age 10 and up; youngsters under that age can enjoy ongoing gallery activities for the whole family throughout the day. There will be special tours, a chance to print you won copy of the Declaration of Independence on Franklin's colonial press; and make your own Paul Revere Liberty Lantern.) Admission is $10 per person, $30 per family, of up to 5 members. Admission price includes all activities and a lunch of Freedom dogs, American apple pie, and Ben Franklin's colonial punch." Third Annual Santa Monica 4th of July Parade 9:30am "Calling all neighbors, kids, bicycles, creative teams, marching bands and civic-minded groups! March in Santa Monica's Fourth of July 2009 Parade! Spectators Welcome! The parade is Saturday, July 4th starting 9:30 AM at the Santa Monica Civic Center." Great American 4th of July Kids Bike Parade, Belmont Shore Long Beach 10:00 a.m. See hundreds of kids ride their decorated bikes through the streets of Long Beach on this very adorable parade route! July 4th Celebration at the Reagan Library 10:00am-5:00pm "This 4th of July, come celebrate our Nation’s 233rd birthday with patriotic concerts, family entertainment, games, crafts, and more at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.Brought to you by Chevron, all 4th of July activities are free; regular Museum admission rates apply for those visitors who also visit the indoor Museum exhibits." FREE The City of Torrance Old Fashioned 4th 11:00am-Fireworks at 9:00pm "Throughout the day the entire family can enjoy arts & crafts, food and game booths, free mini-steamer train rides, contests and continuous entertainment. FREE Fourth of July at Hansen Dam, Valley 10:30- 9:00, Fireworks show "The 2009 15th Annual Hansen Dam Fourth of July Celebration has all of the wonderful “day in the park” event highlights with a very special and relevant twist. It will also be the commemoration of the 50th anniversary since the loss of hometown hero Ritchie Valens, and rock and roll legends Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper." Fourth of July Spectacular at Cabrillo Beach Noon-9:30pm Boats, trucks, fire fighters, music. Oh yeah, this will be good! "For the 57th year, Cabrillo Beach will host a free 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks show. San Pedro Bands and the Golden State Pops Orchestra; Tours of a Naval Vessel; Armed Forces and U.S. Coast Guard demonstrations, Displays by the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s firefighting boat, Washington Artillery group along the coastline firing canons. The 20-minute pyrotechnic fireworks presentation will begin at 9:00 p.m." FREE 4th of July Pignic at Animal Acres Noon to 4:00 pm "Come celebrate a festive Fourth at Animal Acres! " Seaside Lagoon at Redondo Beach 2:00 gates open; 9:30 Fireworks "Come together with friends and neighbors for a unique gathering at the famous Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach celebrating our community, country, family and friends. Reserve your parking and seating to enjoy the thrilling effects of a custom designed fireworks show synchronized to uplifting patriotic music and launched from a barge only 100 yards away. First two years were a SELLOUT with 80% of the family sponsors from Redondo Beach and another 8% from South Bay beach cities. Join soon or all spots will be taken. Proceeds help pay for the fireworks show enjoyed by all." Pacific Palisades Parade 2:00pm "Pacific Palisades comes alive with the annual 4th of July parade. Tens of thousands descend on the coastal community of Pacific Palisades to enjoy the sights and sounds of the annual Independence Day parade. We shut down Sunset Boulevard to celebrate the birth of our great nation. Come join us for an afternoon full of good family fun! Parade appearance by Miss America!" Fireworks Shows Studio City Fireworks, at CBS Studios 6:00-9:00pm Hosted by the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, "Celebrating 40 Years of Woodstock". Magic, kid zone, and more. Culver City Fireworks 5:00pm, fireworks 9:00pm "The Exchange Club of Culver City and the City of Culver City invite you to attend our annual Fourth of July fireworks show at Culver City High School. Gates open at 5PM, entertainment begins at 6:30PM, and the fireworks start at 9PM. Parking $5, entry free. suggested donation $2 per person. Food available, hot dogs, corn, etc." Woodland Hills Fireworks 6:00PM - 9:36PM with fireworks at 9:05PM "Dennis P.
